Privacy policy
Last updated: 10 October 2026
BuilderHQ (“we”, “us”, “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you visit our website (builderhq.io) or use our services, including the websites, software and hosting we provide (the “Service”). We comply with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
1. Information we collect
1.1 Personal data: We collect personally identifiable information that you voluntarily provide when you use the Service, submit an enquiry, or engage with us. This includes your name, business name, email address, phone number, and ABN.
1.2 Business and operational data: When we build, host or look after a website or software for you, we store the content and materials you give us, and the enquiries, bookings and applications that come in through the sites we host for you. You retain full ownership of this data.
1.3 Usage and technical data: Our servers automatically collect technical information when you access the Service, including your IP address, browser type, operating system, access times, and pages viewed. This data is used to maintain and improve the Service.
1.4 Payment data: Payment transactions are processed by Stripe. We do not store your full payment card details. Stripe's privacy policy is available at stripe.com/au/privacy.
2. How we use your information
We use your information to deliver and maintain the Service, process transactions, send invoices and support communications, respond to enquiries, monitor usage trends to improve the Service, and comply with our legal obligations under Australian law. We will not use your information for unrelated purposes without your consent.
3. Automated decision making and AI
As a digital agency we use AI assisted tools when designing and building client websites, writing content, and operating automations, including processing material clients provide to us and enquiries collected through client websites, in each case to deliver our services. These are tools that assist our work and your decision-making and do not constitute professional advice. A human reviews AI assisted work before it goes live, and we do not use AI to make automated decisions about individuals that have legal or similarly significant effects without human review.
4. Disclosure of your information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with trusted third-party service providers (including Hetzner, whose data centres hold the servers we run, and Stripe for payments) who are bound by confidentiality obligations. We may also disclose information where required by law or to protect the rights and safety of BuilderHQ.io or others.
5. Data storage and security
Your data is stored on servers we operate in data centres run by Hetzner in Finland and Germany. We implement technical and organisational security measures to protect your information. In the event of a data breach likely to result in serious harm, we will notify affected individuals and the OAIC as required under the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.
6. Data Retention
We retain your data for the duration of your agreement with us and for 7 years following termination as required for legal compliance. When our agreement ends, your data is available to you for 30 days before we delete it.
7. Cross border data transfers
Our servers are in data centres in Finland and Germany. Payment and email providers we use, such as Stripe, may also process data in other countries, including the United States. By using our website or services, you consent to your data being stored and processed in these locations.
8. Your rights
Under the Australian Privacy Act 1988, you have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your personal information, and to withdraw consent to marketing communications. To exercise these rights, contact privacy@builderhq.io. You may also lodge a complaint with the OAIC at oaic.gov.au.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via the website and, where appropriate, by direct notification.
